The Morning After the Headlines
Just a few days had passed since the newspapers carried stories of triumph —
26 tribal students passing their board exams, each one breaking a barrier generations old.
But while most would’ve taken a pause to celebrate, Lakshya Foundation and its students had something else in mind — progress.
Because real change doesn’t end with a result; it begins there.
New Dreams Taking Shape
Within a week of the results, the same students who once hesitated to return to school were now signing up for the next chapter of their lives.
Some enrolled in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI), eager to learn trades and earn skilled livelihoods.
Some took admissions for higher secondary studies, stepping confidently into the world of Arts, Commerce, and Science.
And others joined vocational skill courses, determined to stand on their own feet.
These weren’t just admissions — they were acts of defiance against a cycle of poverty and limitation.
The Spark Spreads
Inspiration has a funny way of multiplying itself.
As these 26 students advanced, a new batch arrived, eyes full of hope and hearts ready for effort. They had seen their peers — the same children from the same villages — pass Grade 10 and 12, and now they too wanted to change the direction of their lives.
This was Lakshya’s vision unfolding in real time — one student lighting the path for another.
Just Shirish and the Students
On 10th July 2011, the scene was simple — no stage, no media, no banners.
Just Chief Trustee Shirish Patil and a fresh group of eager tribal students, gathered under the same modest roof where everything had begun.
But the atmosphere was electric.
Shirish spoke to them not as a trustee, but as a mentor — reminding them that Lakshya Foundation would always stand by them, that education would remain free, and that effort would always be rewarded.
He told them, “We will always offer the best we can, while charging zero rupees — because the world may limit your money, but it should never limit your dreams.”
It wasn’t a speech.
It was a promise.
The Spirit of Lakshya
That day, the Foundation’s motto — “Uplift through opportunity, not charity” — came alive once again.
The organization didn’t rest on past success. It renewed its commitment — to adopt more students, to guide them step by step, and to make sure no tribal child was left behind just because education had a price tag attached to it.
The journey that began with 27 students was now turning into a movement of dozens more, all united by one goal: to take charge of their future.
Reflection
10th July 2011 wasn’t about speeches or ceremonies.
It was about continuity — about the determination to keep walking even after reaching a milestone.
The first batch had shown that tribal students could excel.
The new batch showed that they could inspire.
And Lakshya Foundation — true to its name — stayed firm on its goal:
