When Concern Became Commitment
Sarthak India Visits Z.P. School Kamatwadi — A New Chapter Begins
Some transformations begin with a construction plan.
Others begin with someone seeing a problem firsthand and saying:
“This has to change.”
18 July 2026 was one such day for Lakshya Foundation and the children of Kamatwadi, a remote tribal village in Murbad Taluka, Thane District.
It was the day when a long-standing concern finally met a committed partner—and the possibility of transforming Z.P. School Kamatwadi moved from aspiration towards action.
A Journey That Began in November 2025
The relationship between Lakshya Foundation and Kamatwadi began on 30 November 2025, when Shirish Patil and the Lakshya Foundation team visited the village for the first time.
Since then, the Foundation has returned regularly—meeting villagers, interacting with children and teachers, understanding the community, and observing the realities of life in the village.
One concern continued to stand out:
the condition of the Z.P. School.
The school was not merely in need of improvement.
It was in urgent need of restoration.
A School That Echoed Lavhali’s Past
During our earlier visits, the condition of Z.P. School Kamatwadi immediately brought back memories of Z.P. School Lavhali, Murbad, as it stood in 2022—before its transformation.
The classrooms were desolate, dim, and starved of light.
The roof leaked, allowing rainwater to enter the learning spaces.
There was no electricity and no water supply, making teaching and learning difficult.
The playground remained neglected, without a safe and inviting environment for children to play and gather.
But among all these challenges, one issue stood apart.
The school’s sanitation facilities.
When a Toilet Becomes a Question of Dignity
The condition of the toilets was deeply disturbing.
The girls’ toilets had human-sized openings in the walls, leaving the space completely exposed and compromising the privacy and safety of the students.
The boys’ toilets were ruined, blocked, and inaccessible.
During one visit, when Shirish Patil attempted to open the door of one of the boys’ toilets, it would not move.
After applying force, the door finally opened.
Inside, the reality was even more distressing—a dog had laid litter in the toilet.
The surrounding area was filled with debris and unnecessary material, making the facilities practically unusable.
This was not a question of inconvenience.
For children, particularly girls, the absence of safe and dignified sanitation can affect health, confidence, privacy, and even regular school attendance.
For Lakshya Foundation, this was simply unacceptable.
Searching for Someone Willing to Stand With Kamatwadi
Lakshya Foundation decided that the school needed more than temporary fixes.
It needed transformation.
Shirish Patil and the entire Foundation team began reaching out to potential supporters, donors, and CSR partners who could help turn the vision into reality.
One organisation already familiar with Lakshya Foundation’s work was Sarthak India, led by Mr. Vinay Chaudhary.
Sarthak India had been supporting Lakshya Foundation’s initiatives for several years.
Through their association with Shirish and their understanding of the Foundation’s work, the team had already seen the seriousness with which Lakshya approaches rural transformation.
The next step was simple:
They needed to see Kamatwadi for themselves.
Sarthak India Comes to Kamatwadi
On 18 July 2026, the entire team of Sarthak India, led by Mr. Vinay Chaudhary, travelled from Pune to Kamatwadi at the request of Lakshya Foundation.
The Lakshya Foundation team accompanying the visit included Shirish Patil, Pravin Savale, Hitesh Thakare, Mayuresh Thakare, Jigisha Savale, and Manish Sonawane.
This was not a presentation.
It was not a meeting in a conference room.
It was a firsthand encounter with the school and the community.
The Sarthak India team walked through the school, interacted with the children and teachers, and saw the infrastructure exactly as it existed.
And the reality deeply moved them.
The Children Behind the Broken Walls
Despite the condition of their school, the children of Kamatwadi welcomed the visiting teams with enthusiasm, curiosity, and warmth.
Their spirit stood in stark contrast to their surroundings.
The Sarthak India team had brought educational stationery and gifts for the students.
The children’s happiness was immediate.
Their smiles and excitement reminded everyone present of an important truth:
The children were not lacking potential.
They were lacking an environment worthy of that potential.
The visitors were particularly shocked by the condition of the toilets.
Seeing the facilities firsthand transformed what had previously been a social-development proposal into something much more immediate and personal.
From Witnessing to Commitment
The visit became the turning point.
After witnessing the situation at Kamatwadi firsthand, Sarthak India immediately agreed to support the transformation of Z.P. School Kamatwadi through its CSR funds.
For Lakshya Foundation, this was a moment of enormous significance.
Months of visits.
Conversations.
Documentation.
Searches for supporters.
And repeated efforts to bring attention to the school’s condition had finally led to a partner willing to step forward.
The commitment opened the door to a larger vision:
to replicate the transformation achieved at Z.P. School and the village of Lavhali, Murbad, at Kamatwadi.
Planting the First Seeds
The Sarthak India team had brought not only gifts and educational materials, but also trees for the school premises.
Following the commitment to support the school’s transformation, the teams came together for a tree plantation activity.
The planting of the trees became a symbolic beginning.
A school transformation does not happen overnight.
It needs planning, resources, implementation, patience, and community participation.
A tree needs exactly the same things.
The saplings planted that day therefore represented more than greenery.
They represented the beginning of a new chapter for Kamatwadi.
A Partnership Rooted in Trust
The proposed transformation of Kamatwadi is built on a partnership between:
- Sarthak India, bringing CSR support and commitment;
- Sarthak Resolve Global Private Limited India, as the upcoming company supporting the initiative;
- Lakshya Foundation, bringing its grassroots experience and serving as the implementing agency; and
- the Kamatwadi community, whose participation and ownership will be essential to the school’s transformation.
Lakshya Foundation is deeply grateful to Mr. Vinay Chaudhary and the entire Sarthak India team for taking the time to travel to Kamatwadi, see the situation firsthand, and trust the Foundation with the responsibility of carrying this transformation forward.
Their decision represents more than financial support.
It represents belief.
Belief in the children.
Belief in the community.
And belief in Lakshya Foundation’s ability to turn a difficult situation into meaningful change.
The Vision Ahead
The dream is not simply to repair a few walls or replace a few facilities.
The larger vision is to transform Z.P. School Kamatwadi into a modern, safe, healthy, and inspiring educational institution—a place that can serve not only the children studying there today, but generations of tribal students who will follow.
Just as Lavhali became an example of what sustained intervention can achieve, Kamatwadi now has the opportunity to begin its own transformation story.
The road ahead will require considerable work.
But on 18 July 2026, the most important thing happened:
the road finally had partners walking on it.
A New Beginning for Kamatwadi
As the day came to an end, the school remained the same physical structure it had been that morning.
The broken walls had not yet disappeared.
The toilets had not yet been rebuilt.
The roof had not yet been repaired.
But something fundamental had changed.
Hope had acquired a commitment.
The children had received gifts.
Trees had been planted.
A CSR partnership had been committed.
And a vision for the school’s future had begun taking shape.
For Lakshya Foundation, this day was the culmination of months of relentless effort to find the right partner for Kamatwadi.
For Sarthak India, it was the moment when seeing the need firsthand led to a decision to act.
And for the children of Kamatwadi, it was the beginning of the possibility that their school could one day become the kind of place they deserve.
Every transformation begins when someone chooses to care enough to act.
On 18 July 2026, Sarthak India came to Kamatwadi to witness a problem.
They left having committed themselves to becoming part of its solution.
The first seeds have been planted.
Now begins the journey of rebuilding Kamatwadi’s school—together.
