Z.P. School Washivali, Tal. Murbad

On 25 July 2023, the Lakshya Foundation team visited Z.P. School Washivali, a tribal village school located close to Lavhali.

School Context

Z.P. School Washivali is the primary educational anchor for children of the village. However, the state of infrastructure is deeply concerning.

Observations

  • Girls’ toilets are heavily damaged; boys’ toilets were never constructed
  • Classrooms are old, poorly lit, and remain dark even during daytime
  • Leaking roofs during monsoons
  • Dilapidated doors and windows
  • The kitchen is beyond repair, with visible cracks and structural distress
  • Plaster has fallen off, exposing bricks in several areas
  • No boundary wall, allowing animals to freely enter the premises
  • Frequent electricity load-shedding, compounding visibility and safety issues

The team has visited this school multiple times, given its proximity to Lavhali and its importance in the local education ecosystem.

The need here is not cosmetic—it is fundamental restoration to protect children, teachers, and continuity of education.
