Z.P. School Gawali, District Thane
On 27 July 2023, Lakshya Foundation conducted a detailed survey of Z.P. School Gawali, District Thane.
Key Findings
- The school originally had two classrooms; one was declared dangerous and abandoned
- Two new classrooms were constructed, but:
- Roofs leak during rains
- Classrooms remain dark due to absence of electrification
- No lights, fans, or proper fittings
- Toilets are desolate and unhygienic
- During monsoons, rainwater logging of 6–7 inches occurs in the playground
- Students must walk through stagnant water to reach classrooms
- Classroom walls show heavy dampness, indicating prolonged water seepage
- No playground equipment, limiting physical development
The team noted that despite new construction, quality and usability remain compromised, highlighting the gap between infrastructure creation and functional learning environments.
